POWIIS offers a broad and balanced British-style education for students aged 3 to 19. The school has two distinctive campuses on Penang Island. One is located in Tanjung Bungah for students aged 3 to 13, and the other is in Balik Pulau for students aged 11 to 19, which also features boarding facilities. Course Guide

Kindergarten

For ages 3-5, the school adopts the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, respecting children’s autonomy and emphasizing learning through play. The curriculum covers multiple areas including language, cognition, motor skills, social development, and arts, flexibly responding to children’s interests and developmental stages. Parent-school partnerships are emphasized, sharing children’s growth through learning records and consultations, with a system where home and school work together to support development.

Primary School

For Years 1-6 (ages 5-11). Based on the British National Curriculum, Years 1-2 focus on building foundations in reading, writing, and mathematics, enjoying thematic learning in science, geography, and history. Years 3-6 advance to deeper learning with specialist teachers in science and languages, incorporating a wide range of subjects including music, art, PE, Mandarin, Bahasa (Malay), and swimming. Additionally, through over 50 extracurricular activities (ECAs), field trips, and beach school programs, the school values experiences outside the classroom, nurturing students’ independence and cooperation skills.

Secondary & Sixth Form

From Year 7 to Sixth Form, education is provided based on the British National Curriculum. Middle school students build their foundation through a wide range of subjects and multiple language studies, while high school students deepen their specialized knowledge through IGCSE and A-Level elective subjects. Career guidance and abundant extracurricular activities actively support university preparation and leadership development. Learning extends beyond the classroom through sports, arts, and volunteer activities.
